Spiceman a/k/a Karl Nigel Wingfield, was born in the Washington, DC area 30+ years ago and currently resides in Atlanta, GA. He has been playing keyboards since 1982, when he joined a DC based funk band called Imagi. This band consisted of four musicians, and they performed jazz and R&B, at various venues in and around the DC area. Karl played with the band until 1988. Since that time he has relocated to Atlanta, Ga. and has concentrated his musical efforts on composing film scores, after having one of his compositions featured in a small independent film in 1990. His musical genre is primarily jazz, infused with Caribbean, Brazilian and African influences. His music has been influenced by Paul Hardcastle, Joe Sample and Pat Methaney. He was given the name "Spiceman" by a former band member since he always seems to be spicing things up.
